Teacher Spotlight: Aubree Corby

Everything we do at Day Early Learning is aimed at nurturing each child’s social, emotional and educational needs. Our ultimate goal is not only to prepare your child for kindergarten, but also to inspire a lifelong learning journey. Well-educated and trained teachers ensure that your child will be in the best hands possible.

Here is your chance to get to know some of our Day Early Learning team members. This week, we highlight Aubree Corby.

Which Day Early Learning center do you work at?
Purdue Early Care & Education Center.

What age group do you teach?
I’m a Classroom Support Professional, so I float in all classrooms!

How long have you worked at Day Early Learning?
I have been at Day Early Learning one year.

When did you know you wanted to work with children?
When I was young, I loved hanging out with my younger family members. I would always want to babysit them and offer any help I could. After these experiences, I knew I wanted to pursue a career in child care!

How do you like to spend your free time?
I love to go on walks and kayaking. Being outdoors is my favorite!

What is/was your favorite children’s book?
My favorite children’s book is The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle.

What was the last moment that caused you to stop and remember why you love teaching and working with children?
I had an opportunity over the summer to work as a camp counselor. There was a moment when one of my campers told me “I became the big sister they needed in life”. At this moment, I remembered why I am in this field. Some days are harder than others, but at the end of the day, I want each child I meet to know they are loved and how important they are to this world.

What is your favorite thing about working at Day Early Learning?
My co-workers! They are the absolute best and are so caring!

What other interesting facts do you want us to know about you?
I’m currently a student at Purdue University pursuing a career in Child Life!
