Teacher Spotlight: Cali Tanner

Everything we do at Day Early Learning is aimed at nurturing each child’s social, emotional and educational needs. Our ultimate goal is not only to prepare your child for kindergarten, but also to inspire a lifelong learning journey. Well-educated and trained teachers ensure that your child will be in the best hands possible.

Here is your chance to get to know some of our Day Early Learning teachers. This week, we highlight Cali Tanner.

Which Day Early Learning center do you work at?
Purdue Early Care & Education Center

What age group do you teach?
I am in a two-year-old classroom.

How long have you worked at Day Early Learning?
We are a new center in the Day Early Learning family.

When did you know you wanted to work with children?
Ever since I was young, I knew I wanted to have a positive impact on children by creating a warm and exciting environment for them to learn in.

How do you like to spend your free time?
I love spending my free time hiking, camping, and kayaking with my wife and dog. I also enjoy cooking new recipes and doing art projects!

What is/was your favorite children’s book?
Pete the Cat and the Magic Sunglasses.

What was the last moment that caused you to stop and remember why you love teaching and working with children?
I have a Dalai Lama quote by my classroom door and on a particularly hard day, a child stopped what they were doing and went over to the sign explaining that it said to “be kind to everyone.”  It really showed that even the little things we chat about throughout the day truly sink in and make a difference with little minds.

What is your favorite thing about working at Day Early Learning?
I love the ToTaL curriculum and how it focuses on the whole child. I also enjoy how warm and approachable the team leaders have been.

What other interesting facts do you want us to know about you?
I have 11 brothers and sisters and I didn’t attend formal schooling until high school.
