Day Nursery preschoolers share holiday traditions

 In In Our Classrooms

The Indiana Department of Education’s Foundations for Young Children notes that while three and four-year olds are still quite egocentric and relate to their own experiences, they begin to notice similarities and differences between themselves and others. Shannon Garrity, Director of the Day Nursery Ruth A. Lilly Center, 3522 N. Central Avenue passed on these pictures of young children learning as they identify different holiday traditions in their community. Here are some pics of our 3’s class decorating our center Christmas tree also a picture of the Hanukkah wall. The children “light” a candle everyday. And during the eight days a different child brings in a gift to share with the class, a special food for afternoon snack.
