Teacher Spotlight: Eryca Atkins

Everything we do at Day Early Learning is aimed at nurturing each child’s social, emotional and educational needs. Our ultimate goal is to not only prepare your child for kindergarten, but also to inspire a lifelong learning journey. Well-educated and trained teachers ensure your child is in the best hands possible.

Here is your chance to get to know some of our Day Early Learning team members. This week, we highlight Eryca Atkins.

Which Day Early Learning center do you work at?
I am at Day Early Learning at Manual.

What age group do you teach?
I am the school leader so I spend time all around the center.

How long have you worked at Day Early Learning?
I have been at Day Early Learning since June 2023.

When did you know you wanted to work with children?
In high school, I was always the one at get-together gathering the young children of friends and family to organize activities.

How do you like to spend your free time?
I enjoy spending time with family, singing, writing and photography.

What is/was your favorite children’s book?
I am a fan of Eric Carle’s books! His child-like artwork and use of color and texture make his work easy and fun to share with kiddos!

What was the last moment that caused you to stop and remember why you love teaching and working with children?
I was recently able to calm down a child who has been having some social/emotional challenges that are creating behavior concerns. I was able to hold and read to him, meeting his physical needs (rest) by engaging him socially/emotionally.

What is your favorite thing about working at Day Early Learning?
My favorite part about working at Day Early Learning is the support systems that are in place for each team member — from the classroom support professionals to the school leaders.

What other interesting facts do you want us to know about you?
I am a huge advocate for early child care programs that nurture and guide the whole child, no matter the child’s background. That is what has brought me to Day Early Learning.
