Everything we do at Day Early Learning is aimed at nurturing each child’s social, emotional and educational needs. Our ultimate goal is not only to prepare your child for kindergarten, but also to inspire a lifelong learning journey. Well-educated and trained teachers ensure that your child will be in the best hands possible.

Here is your chance to get to know some of our Day Early Learning team members. This week, we highlight Hope Adams.

Which Day Early Learning center do you work at?
Purdue Early Care & Education Center.

What age group do you teach?
I am in an infant classroom.

How long have you worked at Day Early Learning?
I have been with Day Early Learning since they took over at Purdue in the fall of 2021, but I have been at this center for longer.

When did you know you wanted to work with children?
I’ve wanted to be an educator for my entire life. My hometown newspaper wrote articles where they interviewed elementary students about what they wanted to be when they grow up. I told them that I wanted to be a teacher (amongst about 12 other professions simultaneously)!

How do you like to spend your free time?
I spend my free time with my pets, reading and researching, painting and working on little things like needlework or trying to improve my penmanship.

What is/was your favorite children’s book?
I was partial to Frog and Toad’s stories and books or Winnie the Pooh as a child. As an adult who works with children, I’m very fond of the whimsy of Alice in Wonderland or any children’s book by Maurice Sendak or Eric Carle.

What was the last moment that caused you to stop and remember why you love teaching and working with children?
I am always noticing the smallest changes in my student like when they imitate a modeled behavior that we’ve shown them. Infants will demonstrate the growth in our bond in the smallest ways. I see it when they no longer have the insecurity towards the vulnerability that is a diaper change or when they start to actively follow with engagement activities that I’ve set up for them. I think all the time about how lucky I am to be an important person to these children and how blessed I am to contribute to their journey!

What is your favorite thing about working at Day Early Learning?
I appreciate working for Day Early Learning for the open community, support, and encouragement that they’ve brought to the center and to the families. Day Early Learning has worked to provide engaging events and surprises for the staff and families, and I am truly grateful to them for working to facilitate an even stronger bond between our center, our company and the community!

What other interesting facts do you want us to know about you?
One fun thing about is that I pursue art outside of the classroom for recreation. I actively work on it as another creative passion. I was even featured as an artist in my hometown in 2022!
