Inaugural Tanner Teacher Award Announcement
Lilly Family Center Infant Teacher Honored
Every day, our teachers work tirelessly to provide the highest quality of care and education possible to your children. They don’t seek acknowledgement for their efforts, which makes it all the more special when their hard work and dedication is recognized.
It is a pleasure to announce that Amber Wetherholt, an infant teacher at Day Early Learning Lilly Family Center, has been selected as the inaugural Tanner Teacher. The award is named after Gene and Rosemary Tanner, long-standing supporters of Early Learning Indiana, in honor of their recent $50,000 donation to support teachers in Day Early Learning centers.
Amber arrived at the Lilly center in 2015, bringing with her a wealth of experience teaching toddlers and preschoolers. She began working in the toddler room before moving into her current role as an infant teacher. Amber’s dedication to the babies she cares for every day is enhanced by her desire to grow professionally and to help her peers do the same. She earned her master’s degree in early childhood education in 2018 and received one of the highest scores possible during recent class observations. In addition to continually seeking out professional development opportunities for herself, Amber serves as a mentor teacher for new hires, supporting them through training, observation and lesson planning.
Amber is an excellent role model for the highly qualified, enthusiastic teachers we strive to attract to lead and assist in our classrooms. If Amber is your child’s teacher or if you see her in the center, please take a moment to congratulate her on this special recognition!
